Work from home has become the new normal, and this line has become quite a cliche over the past 2 years. But that’s the thing about cliches, they are true!
So either you never went back to the office since March 2020, or like us, started to go after the 2nd wave, but are now again holed up in your home with the raging 3rd wave. Either way, this blog is here to help you make the most of your time at home, during this ‘new normal’ and even after that.
Let’s dive right into it!
It is really easy, and pretty normal, to lose the rhythm of being productive if you don’t have the right environment. And most of us don’t typically have a ‘work environment’ at home.
Home is where we put our legs up, lean back, and sing in relaxation. Turning this chill-space into a productivity zone is the real challenge.
Our design expert says, “An interesting way to approach this is to think of your favourite cafe to work out of and try to understand what about the ambience makes you want to be productive. Such places are not very corporate, like office space, but are also not entirely frivolous, like a pub. They are a great mix of fun and productivity, fueled with coffee, low-tempo music, and an unobtrusive vibe.”

Designate a place in your house, where you feel you can recreate this vibe. Maybe a corner with a bookshelf or a window, or a wall with a really interesting painting, or a balcony with a view. It actually depends a lot on you as a person, and what gets you going.
Find your space and turn it into your productivity zone.
Now that you know where you want to sit and run the world, the next thing to do is find the right table and chair. How to select this piece? Well, according to our design expert, “Consider the fact that while you work from home in the foreseeable future, you will spend most of your time on this furniture, not just working but maybe even eating while taking a call. So you would need furniture that is sturdy, spacious, comfortable, and not to forget good-looking.“
“So you would need furniture that is sturdy, spacious, comfortable, and not to forget, good-looking.”
There are literally millions of options out there, but we would recommend going for solid wood tables with sufficient work area, and office chairs with good lumbar support. And considering the fact that you may start going to the office again, renting a workstation instead of buying would be a great option to keep it flexible.
For example, with Furlenco, you can swap your workstation for a recliner or even a bed as your needs change. Check out our workstations, study tables, office chairs, and more here.
But it isn’t just enough to fix your workstation. Now that you’re spending more time at home, it would be a good idea to introduce more thoughtful furniture into your living spaces. Are you eating your meals on your couch in front of your TV? Or perhaps your bed is doubling up as a cloth rack?
How you live is going to matter a lot more now that you’re spending all your time at home. Perhaps it’s time to bring in furniture that solves these small but significant problems – a wardrobe, a dining table, and more such value additions, for that added peace of mind.
While that’s said and done, it’s your turn to put these words to practice. So let’s work together to make working at home easy and comfortable.
